WikidataTrust

WikidataTrust, developed in 2013 by @Ricordisamoa: (unfortunately inactive since 2020), is a popular gadget, presently used by 187 users, 93 of them being active users (see Wikidata:Database reports/Gadget usage statistics/wikidata); it was also among the gadgets shown during the session "A few useful gadgets and scripts for Wikidata" of the Wikidata:Events/Leveling Up Days 2024 two months ago. It allows to see easily which users contributed to creating and editing all the single parts of a Wikidata item, which is very useful both for retropatrolling and for discovering which users have worked and/or presently work on one's preferred topics. I think having it as gadget would make it more accessible (which is true, in general, for all scripts) to a bigger number of users which could enjoy its functionality while editing but may not be well familiar with common.js. --Epìdosis 17:05, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

ProVe: Reference Verification Gadget for Wikidata
[edit]We developed the ProVe tool to support Wikidata editors by providing AI/ML-based reference checking results for Wikidata items. ProVe is designed to assess the quality of external references included in Wikidata claims for each item. - As noticed by @Matěj Suchánek: in User talk:Matěj Suchánek#Wikidata:Tools/Potential gadgets, this probably cannot be accepted as gadget because, according to Wikidata:ProVe#ProVe Installation Guide, "To compute scores, the ProVe widget communicates with a non-Wikimedia site/server for processing claims and references." - Thanks so much for the feedback @Epìdosis and @Matěj Suchánek. I understand this is not feasible until we move ProVe's backend to Wikimedia's infrastructure, which sounds fair. We are very keen on doing this; we have started looking at [1] but are there other resoruces you can point us to? And: provided we manage to move the whole backend to Wikimedia's infrastructure, do you think ProVe will then have a chance of being promoted into a gadget? - Maybe you can also have a look at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge; IMHO after ProVe backend is moved to Wikimedia's infrastructure there are no issues in promoting it to gadget, although on this aspect we need the opinion of an interface admin. Consistency check add, developed in 2013 by @Frettie:, is a popular gadget, presently used by 359 users, 129 of them being active users (see Wikidata:Database reports/Gadget usage statistics/wikidata). It allows to see easily if, among the statements present in the item, some need an inverse property, and it allows to add easily the missing inverse properties. --Epìdosis 13:40, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
