Over the past 118 years, the University of the Philippines has proven itself worthy of the title of the country’s national university. Surviving world wars, colonial occupations, civil rights struggles and cultural upheavals, economic downturns and upsurges, UP has played a role in shaping the nation’s political and social consciousness, and ultimately helping to define the national identity.
