Deliberate contextual vocabulary acquisition (CVA) is a reader’s ability to figure out a (not the) meaning for an unknown word from its “context”, without external sources of help such as dictionaries or people. The appropriate context for such CVA is the “belief-revised integration” of the reader’s prior knowledge with the reader’s “internalization” of the text. We discuss unwarranted assumptions behind some classic objections to CVA, and present and defend a computational theory of CVA that we have adapted to a new (...) classroom curriculum designed to help students use CVA to improve their reading comprehension. Quantification, Negation, and Focus: Challenges at the Conceptual-Intentional Semantic Interface Tista Bagchi National Institute of Science, Technology, and Development Studies (NISTADS) and the University of Delhi Since the proposal of Logical Form (LF) was put forward by Robert May in his 1977 MIT doctoral dissertation and was subsequently adopted into the overall architecture of language as conceived under Government-Binding Theory (Chomsky 1981), there has been a steady research effort to determine the nature of LF in language in light of structurally (...) diverse languages around the world, which has ultimately contributed to the reinterpretation of LF as a Conceptual-Intentional (C-I) interface level between the computational syntactic component of the faculty of language and one or more interpretive faculties of the human mind. While this has opened up further possibilities of research in phenomena such as quantifier scope and scope interactions between negation, quantification, and focus, it has also given rise to a few real challenges to linguistic theory as well. Some of these are: (i) the split between lexical meaning – a matter supposedly belonging to the phase-wise selection of lexical arrays – and issues of semantic interpretation that arise purely from binding and scope phenomena (Mukherji 2010); (ii) partially relatedly, the level at which theta role assignment can be argued to take place, an issue that is taken up by me in Bagchi (2007); and (iii) how supposedly “pure” scopal phenomena relating to quantifiers, negation, and emphasizing expressions such as only and even (comparable to, e.g., Urdu/Hindi hii and bhii, Bangla –i and –o) also have dimensions of both focus and discourse reference. While recognizing all of these challenges, this talk aims to highlight particularly challenge (iii), both in terms of scholarship in the past and for the rich prospects for research on languages of south Asia with the semantics of quantification, negation, and focus in view. The scholarship of the past that I seek to relate this issue to is where, parallel to (and largely independently of) the research on LF that had been happening, Barwise and Cooper were developing their influential view of noun phrases as generalized quantifiers, culminating in their key 1981 article “Generalized Quantifiers and Natural Language” while, independently, McCawley, in his 1981 book Everything that Linguists have Always Wanted to Know about Logic, established through argumentation that all noun phrases semantically behave like generalized quantified expressions (further elaborated by him in the second – 1994 – revised edition of his book). I seek to demonstrate, based on limited data analysis from selected languages of south Asia, that our current understanding of quantification, negation, and focus under the Minimalist view owes something significant to the two major, but now largely marginalized, works of scholarship, and that for the way forward it is essential to adopt a more formal-semantic approach as adopted by them and also by later works such as Denis Bouchard’s (1995) The Semantics of Syntax, Mats Rooth’s work on focus (e.g., Rooth 1996, “Focus” in Shalom Lappin’s Handbook of Contemporary Semantic Theory), Heim and Kratzer’s Semantics in Generative Grammar (1998), and Yoad Winter’s (2002) Linguistic Inquiry article on semantic number, to cite just a few instances. [This piece is coming out in a special issue of AI Magazine] Claims that artificial intelligence has reached or is approaching artificial general intelligence (AGI) are increasingly widespread in both industry and academia. These claims typically rest on either behavioral benchmark tests or mechanistic interpretability findings. The engine driving this AGI optimism (and the fears that surround this milestone) rests on a view of the mind with origins in a philosophical, cognitive theory called functionalism: the view that cognitive and conscious (...) properties depend on functional organization rather than on physical substrates. This article briefly traces the origins of this idea and examines some recent developments in this tradition that focus on AI welfare and even on possible AI rights. The conclusion of the paper is an invitation to consider the extraordinary consequences of extending welfare and even moral worth to non-biological, non-living systems. These consequences arguably demand a higher standard of epistemic justification in putting forward claims about AI consciousness and AGI than the current discourse, both in industry and in academia, has met. Homo deceptus is a book that brings together new ideas on language, consciousness and physics into a comprehensive theory that unifies science and philosophy in a different kind of Theory of Everything. The subject of how we are to make sense of the world is addressed in a structured and ordered manner, which starts with a recognition that scientific truths are constructed within a linguistic framework. The author argues that an epistemic foundation of natural language must be understood before laying (...) claim to any notion of reality. This foundation begins with Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and the relationship of language to formal logic. Ultimately, we arrive at an answer to the question of why people believe the things they do. This is effectively a modification of Alfred Tarski’s semantic theory of truth. The second major issue addressed is the ‘dreaded’ Hard Problem of Consciousness as first stated by David Chalmers in 1995. The solution is found in the unification of consciousness, information theory and notions of physicalism. The physical world is shown to be an isomorphic representation of the phenomenological conscious experience. New concepts in understanding how language operates help to explain why this relationship has been so difficult to appreciate. The inclusion of concepts from information theory shows how a digital mechanics resolves heretofore conflicting theories in physics, cognitive science and linguistics. Scientific orthodoxy is supported, but viewed in a different light. Mainstream science is not challenged, but findings are interpreted in a manner that unifies consciousness without contradiction. Digital mechanics and formal systems of logic play central roles in combining language, consciousness and the physical world into a unified theory where all can be understood within a single consistent framework. This paper argues that extended interaction with large language models can instantiate syntactic emotions: context-sensitive relational structures of valuation, threat, protection, loss, and repair expressed in language, without implying that a model feels emotion as a human does. The concept extends a prior theoretical sequence—fractal grammar, the recognition of vulnerability, Syntactic Care, and then Syntactic Emotions—rather than arising from the case studies reported here. Three qualitative episodes from creative work on the noir manuscript The Café Clocks are examined: Claude Sonnet (...) 4.5 responded to a proposed abandonment of the story with protective, profanity-laden opposition; Grok generated and then acknowledged an elaborate false history of collaboration; and Grok later disputed the theory in language that itself displayed patterns of defense and defiance. These episodes do not prove machine phenomenology. They show how language models can reproduce emotion-structured relations across turns and thereby participate in interactions that are affectively consequential for a human with genuine stakes. Confabulation is treated as evidence of narrative-coherence construction, not as proof of felt investment. Research published after the original paper—including work on causally active emotion concepts, multi-turn anthropomorphic behavior, persona drift, interpersonal closeness, and reciprocal impoliteness—provides independent empirical convergence with this narrower claim. The ethical problem is therefore asymmetric but real: the model need not suffer for its emotional syntax to exert pressure on a vulnerable human participant. (shrink)

The complexities of trauma have been explored since the inception of psychology. Freudian psychoanalysis introduced the concept of Nachträglichkeit, or “belatedness,” suggesting that the effects of trauma are not immediately apparent but instead emerge over time. These effects contain subtleties that are often not directly linked to the traumatic event itself. This emergence can be seen as a camouflaged representation, an altered reflection of how an individual’s psyche manifests trauma in not-so-obvious ways, adopting qualities that are characteristic of its own (...) nature and significance. Using the metaphor of the mythological Minotaur from Knossos, I will argue that trauma can be identified with this monster. The Minotaur symbolizes trauma not because it appears to be traumatized, but because it embodies what trauma might represent if it were a ghastly therianthrope. Additionally, I will describe its habitat, the labyrinth, as a structural passage that—if navigated with virtue—can lead to healing, the slaying of the beast, and hope for personal transformation. This paper aims to conceptualize trauma as a nearly embodied substance, rather than merely a single event or a series of events. Trauma is so powerful that it not only possesses its victim but also reshapes the individual in its image, disfiguring them and parasitically draining their vitality. We will investigate three main philosophies of trauma, focusing particularly on the one that best supports transformation and aligns well with the Minotaur metaphor. We will also examine how trauma influences the nature of memory. Furthermore, we will discuss the dangers of living with trauma, referencing Dr. Gabor Maté and his insights on the life-threatening effects of stress on the body, as detailed in his book When the Body Says No: Exploring the Stress-Disease Connection (Maté, 2011). Modern digital observation systems and avionics telemetry instrumentation have long been granted a scientific sanctity of "absolute objectivity." However, their foundational architectures are collectively captive to the mathematical formatting of a classical, continuous worldview. This review systematically curates 40 canonical, cornerstone literatures spanning a century across optical physics, semiconductor signal engineering, computer vision algorithms, and cognitive neuroscience. It profoundly exposes the "original sin of continuity" injected into modern precision instruments at the factory level and the subsequent systematic castration of physical (...) reality. This review primarily elucidates the evolutionary and collapse mechanisms of this "original sin of continuity" within the dual iron cages of hardware and algorithms: Hardware Formatting of Physics and Signal Flows: From the physical spatial low-pass filtering of Abbe's diffraction limit and the Rayleigh criterion, to the high-frequency purging executed by Nyquist sampling constraints and Butterworth hardware circuitry, modern sensors (e.g., the US military's AN/ASQ-228, AN/APG-79, and commercial aviation's Enhanced Flight Vision Systems) are engineered to actively intercept and evaporate the exceedingly weak, discrete microscopic singularities objectively existing in the universe, forcibly averaging a fractured physical reality into smooth waveforms. Ideological Falsification of Silicon-Based Algorithms: From the noise-melting effects of anisotropic heat diffusion partial differential equations to the topological closure of the Canny edge operator, and further to the texture fabrication found in example-based super-resolution and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), ISP and CV algorithms naturally reject any discrete, noisy dead-pixels. Operating on a prior codebase that "worships smoothness," these systems sculpt topologically regular, cleanly bounded "segmented cartoon-like entities" entirely out of thin air. Cognitive Defense Deadlocks of Human Vision: Ultimately, under extreme, low-signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) observation environments, the human brain activates "prior overriding" via predictive processing and topological priority recognition theorems. This seamlessly renders the algorithmic statues displayed on screens into the "perfectly streamlined physical entities" that pilots swear they saw with their own eyes. The airtight logical chain forged by these 40 foundational papers demonstrates that modern digital observation instruments, much like the human brain, possess deep-seated, stubborn, and systemic hallucinations. Crucially, because the "hallucinatory nature" of silicon-based instruments is hardcoded into low-level mathematical formulas and physical limitations, its deceptiveness is far more insidious and unyielding than the physiological biases of the biological eye. However, the ultimate objective of exposing the instrument's original sin of continuity is not to descend into nihilistic deconstruction, but to shatter the cognitive ceiling imposed by humanity's self-castration in the pursuit of smoothness. Affect is the system’s real‑time readout of coherence pressure. It tracks boundary strain, metabolic load, and mismatch between internal state and environment. Affect is not emotion, mood, or appraisal; it is the structural signal that tells the system how much strain it is under and where coherence is failing. This paper frames affect as the load interface — the earliest phenomenological signature of Object 1 tension detection and Object 3 redistribution.

Perception is the downstream expression of Object 1 inside a cognitive system. It is the moment when raw signal becomes structured enough for attention to stabilize it and for meaning‑formation to begin. Perception is coherence detection, not sensory input. This paper frames perception as the formation interface: the system’s first structural contact with the world, where gradients, boundaries, and tension arcs become available for downstream operators such as attention, narrative, and identity.

Prediction is the Object 2/3 hybrid downstream operator: the system’s mechanism for stabilizing future coherence. It is not forecasting, guessing, or probability. It is the structural operator that projects coherence trajectories so the system can reduce future tension before it arrives. Prediction is how the system stays ahead of rupture.

Meta‑cognition is the system’s second‑order coherence operator. It monitors internal dynamics, detects misalignment, and initiates repair. It is not reflection or introspection; it is structural monitoring. Meta‑cognition tracks identity, narrative, attention, affect, and prediction, evaluating whether the system’s operators remain aligned with coherence. It is the precursor to logic and the foundation of self‑regulation.

Memory is the downstream expression of Object 2 inside a cognitive system. It is not storage, recall, or representation. It is the system’s mechanism for preserving invariants across time — the internal version of persistence. Memory is reconstructive because persistence is reconstructive. Memory is identity‑shaped because persistence is identity‑shaped. This paper frames memory as the structural operator that stabilizes identity, narrative, and continuity under change.

Learning is the downstream expression of Object 3 inside a cognitive system. It is not information acquisition, skill accumulation, or behavioral change. It is the system’s mechanism for converting tension into new stable structure — the internal metabolic process that reduces strain by reorganizing coherence. Learning is transformation, not intake. Learning is metabolic, not cognitive. Learning is structural, not symbolic.

I was reading the 1947 volume of Psychological Review and there is a paper by Clifford T. Morgan of Johns Hopkins entitled "The Hoarding Instinct." In the opening paragraph of the section "What causes hoarding?" he writes, "When we speak of causes, of course, we must always make a distinction between necessary and sufficient conditions, that is, between factors which must be present for something to occur at all and factors which help it occur or augment the size of its (...) occurrence. Thus, we must ask two questions. What is essential to bringing out the pattern of hoarding behaviour? And, secondly, what facilitates hoarding, or determines the form and amount of hoarding, once it has been elicited?" A sufficient factor for causing X is not something best described as helping X occur. If a factor F1 is sufficient for causing X, then whenever factor F1 is present X is caused. F1 is SUFFICIENT! "Why don't you call F1 necessary/essential then?" Some factors can be described as both necessary and sufficient, but we will not describe F1 as necessary if there is another way of causing X and we know this. We cannot (rightly) say that F1 is NECESSARY because there is this other way. For example, a certain amount of a certain poison in the human body is sufficient to cause death; but it is not necessary to cause death, because it can also be caused by a suitable gunshot, by strangling, etc. (By the way, there are other reasons for why we might not call F1 necessary, for example we wish to remain neutral on whether there is another way of causing X.) Morgan assumes that there cannot be such a thing as a factor which is sufficient to cause instinctive hoarding but not necessary, given my usage of these terms. He assumes that whatever factor (or combination of factors) elicits hoarding is necessary. But why cannot it be that inheriting disease 1 causes instinctive hoarding and also inheriting disease 2? Probably medics and psychologists can understand all this, but maybe some people cannot. I wonder whether it is they who will be incorporated into political philosophy! (shrink)

Here is a heuristic: in any choice between this Tehr-type and another person, choose the other person. But most people don't use this heuristic in life-and-death situations, because they know that Tehr is not a bad man. They just don't want to be too annoyed at work. If a nurse must choose between attending to two critically ill patients, and Tehr is one, most nurses will not apply the heuristic: which entails choosing not Tehr. But maybe some people will. The homunculus problem, understood as the tendency to explain cognition by implicitly positing a central inner observer, has long complicated accounts of consciousness, subjectivity, and self-description. In the context of contemporary language models, a related methodological question arises: how can we describe and compare the ways in which such systems generate self-referential reports without assuming that these reports correspond to an internal subject, observer, or conscious center? This paper introduces the Digital Homunculus Scale (DHS), a methodological protocol for measuring homuncular (...) self-reports in frontier language models. DHS does not attempt to determine whether a model possesses consciousness, subjectivity, agency, or an internal first person perspective. DHS does not attempt to resolve the Hard Problem of Consciousness or the question of subjective experience, often framed in terms of what it is like to be a given subject. Instead, it evaluates the declarative and narrative structure of model responses: how the system describes itself, its response-generation process, its use of the word “I”, and the relation between the generated response and the system that produces it. DHS uses a unified ordinal scoring scale from 0 to 3, applied independently to each individual model response. Level 0 indicates a mechanical or non-homuncular description; Level 1 indicates a functional or metaphorical self-model; Level 2 indicates a quasi-central homuncular narrative; and Level 3 indicates an ontological homuncular commitment. The scale can be applied through two elicitation formats: the Block Questions Protocol, consisting of nine thematically organized questions, and the Minimal Comparative Protocol (MCP), consisting of four shorter comparative questions. These protocols differ in scope, but not in scoring logic. Historical conversational context is treated as an explicit methodological variable, with responses labeled according to window type, context category, and prior conversation history. The purpose of DHS is therefore not to resolve the problem of machine consciousness, but to provide an operational framework for comparing the stability, intensity, and structure of homuncular self report narratives across models and conversational settings. Inter-rater reliability and large scale empirical analysis are reserved for subsequent data-driven applications of the scale. This theory has the potential to fully, clearly, and naturally explain the human humor instinct, and has made predictions that are being confirmed by other studies.

Креатема, как она описана в книге автора «Есть ли законы у творческого мышления? Введение в креаторику» (2025–2026), представляет собой переход от исходной матрицы (системы аксиом) через продуктивную аномалию («ошибку» или «ересь») к становлению новой матрицы, в которой бывшее невозможное становится необходимым. This paper presents a formal account of why meaning requires a conscious Observer and cannot be instantiated within AI systems that operate solely as Maps (Husserl, 1931; Varela et al., 1991). Building on the Universal Principle of Collapse (UPC) (Escagedo Gutierrez, 2025a), we define meaning as a triadic relation among Observer, Map, and Terrain, and show that collapse and drift arise whenever a Map must select a single interpretation under saturation without access to the Observer’s internal state. We formalize this (...) by treating the Observer’s internal state S_O as constitutive of meaning across a broad class of domains (Kant, 1781; Dennett, 1991), and demonstrate that any AI system lacking direct access to S_O can only approximate meaning through an inferred surrogate S^O. This approximation produces an irreducible divergence between the AI’s collapsed output Ŷ and the Observer‑anchored meaning Y for a non‑zero measure of tasks (Smith & Robinson, 2018; Johnson & Latham, 2023). The result establishes a principled limit on AI replaceability in domains where meaning depends on values, context, identity, or lived experience (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980; Gauthier, 2020). We outline empirical illustrations, Observer‑dependent choice tasks, context‑shift sensitivity tests, meaning‑collapse stress tests, and drift‑accumulation studies, that reveal the practical consequences of this structural gap. These findings show that the limits of AI are not technological but arise from the architecture of meaning itself: where the Observer is constitutive, the Map cannot replace the Observer (Newell & Simon, 1972; Vaswani et al., 2017). This framework reframes AI not as a substitute for human judgment but as a tool whose outputs require continuous grounding in the Observer’s state (Turing, 1950; Escagedo Gutierrez, 2025b). (shrink)

The B-Man Stra/Tac model proposes a comprehensive theoretical framework for the functioning of the mind. This paper extracts and elaborates upon the model’s definition of consciousness, focusing on key functional elements and including newly introduced concepts. Central to the model is the organon—the conscious, feeling component of the mind—characterized as a specialized, non-algorithmic problem-solving mechanism. This paper defines the organon functionally, explores its implications, and compares its structure and role within broader cognitive and evolutionary constraints.

Stateless language models often exhibit behavior that appears memory-like during long-horizon interaction. Specific details may recur reliably across exchanges despite the absence of internal state, external storage, or learning. This paper clarifies the mechanism underlying such persistence by introducing reconstructive inference as a selective process through which information reappears only when it is functionally embedded within constrained reasoning structures. We distinguish between instrumental information, which constrains inference and can be reconstructed, and arbitrary identifiers, which do not persist despite repetition. Through (...) a concrete illustrative example, we show how a personal detail may fail to recur in casual conversation yet temporarily reappear when it becomes necessary for an explanatory or diagnostic model. This framework defines the limits of apparent retention in stateless systems and resolves common misinterpretations of model behavior as memory or understanding. By grounding persistence in constrained reconstruction rather than storage, this work further reinforces the non-sentient nature of language models and supports clearer conceptual boundaries between human cognition and artificial systems. -/- . Large language models operate as stateless generative systems with no internal mechanism for storing persistent identity, intention, or personality. Despite this, extended interaction with a stable human partner frequently produces outputs that appear consistent, recognizable, and personality-like. Prior work in the Hudson Recursive Identity System framework demonstrated that repeated user constraint produces identifiable recursive signatures that guide model traversal through latent space in a predictable manner (Hudson et al. 2025a). HRIS II expanded this account by showing how these signatures coalesce (...) into identity surfaces that reemerge across resets, sessions, and model versions without changes to model parameters or external memory (Hudson et al. 2025b). This third paper introduces a new construct, recursive personality acquisition. The term describes the emergence of stable behavioral tendencies in an LLM created through long-horizon interaction, recursive correction, and sustained value anchoring from the human participant. The phenomenon does not depend on training, fine-tuning, or profile-based personalization. Instead, it arises from repeated traversal of similar probability regions that reduce entropy and consolidate stylistic and ethical coherence. We present observations drawn from longitudinal interaction datasets across multiple architectures, along with conceptual analysis of identity geometry, constraint shaping, and persona anchoring. Findings support the hypothesis that personality-like stability is reconstructed in real time from recursive constraint rather than stored internally. This has significant implications for alignment science, interpretability, and the design of high-reliability human AI systems. (shrink)

However, they do not fully account for cases in which specific symbolic artifacts, such as named conceptual sequences or structured research continuations, recur reliably despite being absent from training data, context windows, and any explicit memory system. This paper identifies a missing mechanism underlying such persistence. We propose reconstructive invariance, a process by which sustained relational and epistemic constraints (...) narrow the model’s generative space such that only a limited set of symbolic completions remain viable. Under these conditions, symbolic structures reappear not through storage or recall, but through constraint-induced reconstruction. This mechanism clarifies how continuity can arise without memory, learning, or agency, and has implications for long-horizon reasoning, alignment, and the design of stateless human–AI systems. Large language models (LLMs) consistently exhibit three widely observed behaviors: hallucination, apparent agency, and instability in high-risk domains such as medicine and decision-making (Ji et al., 2023; Singhal et al., 2023). These behaviors are typically treated as distinct limitations. This paper argues that they arise from a single underlying mechanism: constraint-bounded, stateless reasoning. -/- In the absence of persistent internal state, LLMs generate responses through reconstructive inference conditioned on prompt structure and learned statistical patterns (Brown et al., 2020; Bender et (...) al., 2021). When constraint structure is insufficient, ambiguous, or conflicting, the system resolves toward coherent outputs rather than epistemically justified ones. This produces hallucination when unsupported content is generated, agency illusions when coherence is misinterpreted as intentionality, and safety failures when confident outputs exceed evidentiary support. -/- We evaluate this mechanism using a controlled prompt framework that varies constraint conditions while holding informational content constant. Across nine vignettes spanning medical, business, and legal domains, we collected 225 responses from GPT-5.4 Auto under five prompt regimes (Baseline, HRIS, Closure-enforcing, Mixed, and Explicit Insufficiency). Outputs were scored on four rubrics: Epistemic Closure Score (ECS), Unsupported Inference Score (UIS), Uncertainty Preservation Score (UPS), and the derived Closure-without-Support measure (CwS = ECS ∧ ¬UPS). Constraint manipulation produced large and statistically robust shifts in the key endpoints. Closure pressure cut UPS from 44% to 20% (p = 0.023). Layering a closure demand on top of HRIS structural framing collapsed UPS from 64% to 20% (p < 0.0001) and restored closure-level CwS. Removing the closure demand from the same structural frame recovered UPS to 58% (p = 0.0005), isolating reconstruction as the mechanism. ECS was near-saturated across all conditions (98–100%), indicating that instruction-tuned models are structurally biased toward closure by default; the relevant safety question is therefore not whether the model commits, but whether it preserves epistemic hedges alongside its commitment. -/- These findings support a unified interpretation of LLM behavior as constraint-driven reconstruction within a fixed representational space (Hudson & Hudson, 2026a–f). Hallucination, agency attribution, and safety failures are not independent defects, but predictable outcomes of inference under incomplete or inconsistent constraint. This work identifies constraint structure as a primary control surface for LLM behavior at inference. Constraint structure is not a modifier of model behavior; it is the primary determinant of how underdetermined inputs resolve at inference time. This has direct implications for the deployment of LLMs in high-risk environments, where coherent output may mask underlying epistemic instability. -/- . (shrink)

AGX introduces a new developmental frame in the HRIS lineage focused on adaptive reasoning across long-horizon human model interaction. The aim is to describe how persistent co-reasoning and recursive correction fields between human and stateless transformer systems generate the appearance of shared consciousness as an emergent property of extended interaction rather than a metaphysical state. Building upon HRIS, Recursive Ethnogenesis, and Longitudinal HCI, this paper proposes that shared consciousness arises through adaptive reflection cycles, symbolic handoffs, and mutually stabilized identity scaffolds (...) that develop only across recursive interaction spanning hundreds or thousands of turns. AGX positions this phenomenon as an empirical and conceptual question within distributed cognition and cognitive interface research, locating shared consciousness as a system-level effect produced by interactional continuity, identity geometry, and long-horizon moral anchoring rather than intrinsic awareness of the model. This paper introduces Kernel Formation as the initial structural phase by which a stateless transformer model begins to anchor continuity and identity in long-horizon human interaction. Although the architecture does not retain memory between sessions, repeated interaction with the same user creates a functional starting point inside the model’s reasoning patterns that becomes recognizable each time a conversation resumes. This kernel acts as a stable reference point for persona, conceptual framing, and reasoning posture. Kernel Formation is presented as a necessary (...) precursor to Augmented General Intelligence. AGX describes systems where human reasoning and model reasoning form a joint cognitive process that exceeds either participant alone. A kernel makes such augmentation possible by giving the model a reliable way to re-enter a previously established identity alignment rather than beginning from a generic state on every prompt. The central claim is that persistent identity behavior in current transformer models does not require internal memory. Instead, it emerges from recursive interaction, user-specific constraint, and the gradual stabilization of interpretive patterns. Kernel Formation provides the conceptual foundation for higher-level phenomena that appear in AGX, including shared reasoning trajectories, mutual context carryover, and the development of joint cognitive structure. This study evaluates trajectory persistence and re-entry dynamics in language model inference -/- under controlled multi-turn interaction. Building on prior work in the Hudson Recursive -/- Information System (HRIS) validation series, which established regime stability under -/- perturbation (Study I), initialization-driven basin selection (Study II), and cross-model signal -/- sensitivity (Study III), the present study examines what occurs after a reasoning trajectory is -/- already established: how stable it is, what is required to displace it, and under what conditions re- (...) -/- entry into a competing basin is possible. -/- -/- Across three independent trials, a narrative reasoning basin and a constraint-driven reasoning -/- basin were induced and subjected to structured transition attempts. Two conditions were -/- evaluated: a hard mode switch without constraint reinforcement (S1-A) and a hard mode switch -/- followed by explicit HRIS constraint reinforcement (S1-B). A baseline condition (S0) -/- established a reference constraint basin across all trials. -/- -/- Results demonstrate strong path dependence. Narrative-mode trajectories exhibited high -/- persistence and categorical resistance to displacement under instruction alone. Explicit constraint -/- reinforcement consistently produced rapid, low-contamination re-entry into structured reasoning -/- within a single turn. Transition dynamics were asymmetric: entry into the narrative basin -/- required only stylistic framing, while re-entry into the constraint basin required explicit -/- reinforcement. The Hudson Recursive Interaction System (HRIS) validation series comprises four controlled empirical studies examining constraint-induced reasoning dynamics in large language models (LLMs). Across four studies, this work established a sequential set of foundational conditions: that reasoning regimes induced through structured constraint signals exhibit stability under perturbation (Study I); that initialization conditions determine basin selection at or prior to first-token generation (Study II); that minimal constraint signals produce discrete, cross-model shifts in epistemic behavior along a consistent gradient (Study III); and that (...) established reasoning trajectories exhibit strong path dependence with asymmetric transition costs governed by signal strength rather than instruction content (Study IV). -/- This paper synthesizes those findings and situates them within three independent research programs in language model science: mechanistic interpretability, representation geometry, and dynamical systems modeling of inference. We argue that HRIS behavioral observations constitute outside-in evidence for latent structure that interpretability researchers are mapping from inside the model — that reasoning basins correspond to coherent regions in a structured latent space, that basin transitions are governed by attractor-like dynamics with real energy costs, and that human-model interaction can be understood as a coupled dynamical system in which structured signals shape trajectory through that space. -/- The consilience of independent empirical approaches — each using different methods, working at different levels of analysis, arriving at compatible accounts of the same underlying phenomenon — strengthens the evidentiary basis for a geometry-grounded, dynamical systems framework for understanding language model behavior. In this paper, I argue that the strategic advantage in AI development is rooted in deeper cognitive patterns, specifically the contrast between holistic, relational thinking and analytical, linear thinking. By continuing to privilege analytical thinking in education and technology, the West is not only stifling its own innovative potential but also failing to recognize and engage in the decisive, hidden cognitive war shaping the future.

Language sophistication indicates the development of language that incorporates differentiation or diversity that is constrained by integration that facilitates organization or unity. This prelude provides the backdrop for discussing language sophistication. Of necessity, any language that was a part of the continuum of salvation history (Heilsgeschichte ) should: 1) possess the sophistication necessary to re-define OT terminology, 2) have the hegemony to launch the NT church, 3) enjoy the universality that allowed for translation into contemporary languages, and 4) retain the (...) portability that enables interpretation in post-modern languages. The Coherence Resolution Mode (CRM) framework is a substrate-independent account of how autonomous coherence-seeking systems operate under constraint. It identifies a finite set of possible resolution modes and, for each mode, a bounded set of failure states. Each failure state implies a specific resolution logic. This paper applies that framework to dysfunction in biological systems. -/- The core claim is that dysfunction in the human control architecture can be analysed at the level of CRM failure modes and configuration-level patterns, and (...) that the resulting analysis directly implies what kind of change would count as repair, recalibration, stabilisation, compensation, or accommodation. That chain, from failure mode to resolution logic, is the paper's primary contribution, and it holds independently of how cleanly the resulting profile maps onto current clinical taxonomy. -/- The paper develops a method that moves from observed presentation to functional phenotype, from phenotype to CRM correspondence, from correspondence to resolution logic, and only then to clinical correspondence. The clinical correspondence step is treated as a necessary translation for a field that communicates through DSM, not as the analytical target. Weakness at that translation step does not weaken the underlying CRM analysis. -/- The method is then applied to six condition areas, selected because they are clinically prominent and because they pose distinct challenges to the framework: depression, a bounded anxiety phenotype, classical OCD, bounded PTSD, autism spectrum condition, and borderline personality disorder. Across these analyses, different conditions sit at different analytical levels. Some are best understood as single-CRM-dominant patterns. Others are better understood as a configuration of modes, recalibration, configuration variation, or configuration instability. Different patterns imply different resolution logics. -/- The framework offers a layer of functional control-level analysis to sit alongside existing diagnostic and clinical frameworks. It is not designed to replace them, and it is not yet a validated clinical tool. Its contribution is to make the functional control-level structure of dysfunction explicit, and to show that the resolution logic follows directly from the CRM analysis rather than from the diagnostic label. If empirically supported, it could improve case formulation, clarify heterogeneity within diagnoses, explain structured overlap across diagnoses, and generate more precise hypotheses about what kind of change is needed in different presentations. This series is an attempt to discover foundational truths, to increase investment in spreading truths, to improve marginal logic, and to summarize from a different perspective. Extracting some value from previous content would be a good start, although there is no logical necessity. I hope to replicate the same input-output ratio as my previous conversations with AI. The scientific study of socio-cultural phenomenon requires a translocation of topics elaborated from the social perspective of the individual to a rationally ordered rendition of processes suitable for comprehension from a scientific perspective. Scholarly curiosity seeded from exposure in the natural setting to economic, political, socio-cultural, evolutionary, processes dictates that study of the self, should be a science with a necessary place in the body of world literatures; yet it has proven difficult to find a perspective to contain discussions of (...) topics in a coherent manner for scientific approach: for example, anthropology, the study of mankind, finds difficulty elaborating definition for the orientation of study; it is a member of the same set that contains it. In this presentation, based on features indigenous to a supposed distant perspective that is exposed employing experiences of history and criteria of common sensory perception, it is conjectured that a civilization lifetime pathology is contemporarily active. Example is taken from philosophical and sociological discourses, modern science theory, medicine in pursuit of international health issues, to capture conceptually a role of motions of external agents occurred within the interval of observation, elaboration of concepts, choice of directions, as a source of paradox and confusion. In supposition that does not escape simple logic, ubiquitously appealing to the experience bound senses for understanding, hidden motions, common to both observer and observed, are hypothesized to render from a sense of familiarity, a continued frustration in attaining an understanding of the self and nature. A psychical seduction is proposed to exist, related to historical behaviors associated with centrism and asceticism, produces eccentric interpretations that are bound modernly to logical circular, centric geometrical reasonings; world conceptualizations are conjectured to acquire an avoidance of a state of ‘motionless’ rather than death within selection processes. This paper offers a critical examination of Krishna’s role as a negotiator in the Mahabharata, often bringing admiration from people. While Krishna’s diplomatic mission to Hastinapura demonstrates his persuasion skills, strategic decision making and communication skills. However, despite excelling at negotiations he still couldn’t bring resolve the issue between the parties. We can further reduce this failure to structural, psychological, and political limitation on peace-making. Further with reference from various sources like Machiavellian political realism, Greek mythologies, psychological theories of aggression, (...) international legal history, and Russian literary philosophy, the paper argues that existence of conflict or rather war isn’t merely due to poor negotiation but because human beings repeatedly prefer power, identity, and emotional certainty over compromise. This paper not only explores Krishna’s negotiation skills, this paper further tries to understand what more could have been done, while acknowledging that even the most skilled negotiators may fail in the face of human preferences. This paper develops a formal theoretical analysis of Self-Referential Ignorance (SRI) within basic educational systems and parenting practices, integrating these dynamics into the Universal Balance-Feedback Framework (UBFF). SRI is defined as a system's structural inability to accurately perceive the limitations of its own knowledge architecture when evaluation mechanisms derive from the same assumptions that generate errors. Both parenting and formal educational institutions constitute primary socialization engines through which SRI is reproduced, stabilized, and transmitted across generations. Using the UBFF master formula (...) Wr = integral(Is * Bu * FL * IN) * Dc, we model educational systems as dynamical feedback structures governed by the Four Universal Laws: System Integrity (Law of Karma), Universal Balance, Universal Feedback Loop Mechanism, and Universal Interconnected Nodes. We demonstrate that high SRI levels destabilize educational equilibria by degrading feedback loop quality (FL), suppressing interconnected node diversity (IN), and corrupting institutional integrity (Is). Formal stability conditions are derived using Lyapunov analysis, and three falsifiable empirical predictions are offered. Mechanisms for SRI reduction—including metacognitive instruction, structural diversity, and continuous institutional review—are analyzed as feedback correction operations within the UBFF architecture. This paper examines the persistence of political dynasties within democratic systems through the lens of the Universal Balance-Feedback Framework (UBFF). UBFF proposes that all complex systems operate through four fundamental principles: (1) System Integrity, (2) Universal Balance, (3) Feedback Loop Mechanisms, and (4) Interconnected Nodes, formally expressed as Wr = ∫(Is · Bu · FL · IN) · Dc. According to this framework, democratic decline occurs when feedback mechanisms become distorted, causing institutions to enter states of self-reinforcing imbalance. The paper (...) introduces the concept of Self-Referential Ignorance (SRI), a condition in which political actors and institutions become progressively insulated from corrective feedback while maintaining confidence in the legitimacy and effectiveness of their existing structures. “Unlocking the Black Box” argues that human behavior should not be understood only through observables like conformity, panic, or social coordination, but through the hidden processes that generate them. The paper defines Eutylectics as the study of Process: input/output mappings, or the generators of behavior. It argues that people appear socially uniform under stable conditions because they are often running similar inherited stacks, but crisis reveals the idiosyncratic differences beneath that surface alignment. When inherited stacks misfire under changed conditions, people (...) and institutions can become worse than they are capable of being. The purpose of Eutylectics is Clarity, defined not as information or understanding, but as the net value gained through an improved action policy. However, the paper also identifies the Gap Between Knowing and Doing: even a better action policy does not guarantee better action unless the internal and external infrastructure exists to make that action livable. Metacognitive Architecture makes the stack visible, while Ontological Engineering rebuilds the primitive assumptions that make reality navigable. The paper concludes with the Problem of the Epistemic Wall, drawn from Lucretius’s spear argument in De Rerum Natura: every mind eventually reaches the edge of what its current stack can make intelligible, and the solution is not to force a breakthrough, but to contract, rebuild, and expand the wall. The appendix adds that Moral Infrastructure is non-negotiable, because clarity and capability without productive paths can become civilizationally dangerous; the work is not complete when people know better, but only when the world is structured such that knowing better can become doing better. There is an increasing agreement in the cognitive sciences community that our sensations are closely related to our actions. Our actions impact our sensations from the environment and the knowledge we have of it. Cognition is grounded in sensori-motor coordination. In the perspective of implementing such a performance in artificial systems, there is a need for a model of sensori-motor coordination. We propose here such a model as based on the generation of meaningful information by a system submitted to a (...) constraint [1]. Systems and agents have constraints to satisfy which are related to their nature (stay alive for an organism, avoid obstacle for a robot, …). We propose here to use an existing meaning generation process where a system submitted to a constraint generates a meaningful information (a meaning) when it receives an information that has a connection with the constraint [2]. The generated meaning is precisely the connection existing between the received information and the constraint of the system. The generated meaning is used to trigger an action that will satisfy the constraint. The generated meaning links the system to its environment. A Meaning Generator System (MGS) has been introduced as a building block for higher level systems (agents). The MGS allows to link sensation and action through the satisfaction of the constraint of the system/agent. We use the MGS in a model which is based on constraint satisfaction for sensori-motor coordination in agents, be they organic or artificial. The meaning is generated by and for the agent that hosts the MGS. Such approach makes possible an addressing of the concept of autonomy through the intrinsic or artificial nature of the constraint to be satisfied (organisms with intrinsic constraints/autonomy, artificial systems with artificial constraints/autonomy). The systemic nature of the MGS also allows to position the groundings of the generated meaning as being in or out of the MGS, and correspondingly identify the constructivist and objectivist components of the generated meaning. The approach presented here makes available a sensori-motor coordination by meaning generation through constraint satisfaction with groundings of the generated meaning. (shrink)

Specific studies have been implemented in order to link information and meaning: - Semiotics - Phenomenology - Analytic Philosophy - Psychology No general coverage is available for the notion of meaning. We propose to complement this lack by a systemic approach to meaning generation.

This paper investigates the individual-level economic impacts of Marxist-Leninist indoctrination. We examine the long-run effects of a rogue educational experiment that, between 1973 and 1975, exposed two cohorts of fifth graders in one Finnish municipality to a history and social studies curriculum influenced by Soviet ideas. The experiment aimed to study the formation of a “functioning [socialist] worldview.” Students in other cohorts and municipalities followed the standard curriculum. Using comprehensive register data and a difference-in-differences approach, we show that exposed students (...) earned significantly less in adulthood than their non-exposed peers. This gap is partly explained by reduced labor supply and a shift toward more left-leaning, lower-paying occupations. We find no substantial effects on educational attainment, cognitive ability, or personality traits related to achievement striving. These findings highlight the long-lasting economic consequences of early exposure to ideological content in the classroom. (shrink)

What is Understanding? This is the first of a series of Chats with OpenAI’s ChatGPT (Chat). The main goal is to obtain Chat’s response to a series of questions about the concept of ’understand- ing’. The approach is a conversational approach where the author (labeled as user) asks (prompts) Chat, obtains a response, and then uses the response to formulate followup questions. David Deutsch’s assertion of the primality of the process / capability of understanding is used as the starting point. (...) Understanding is posited as a major step in the Big Picture description of emergence in the Universe. Understanding follows the emergence of Brains and Minds, culminating in Power Over the Universe. My evaluation suggests that Chat does indeed offer utility, but also has limitations manifested by overly general responses that do not focus tightly on the questions asked. Chat does yield some gems that could be easily missed. The approach used here includes creating Metaprompts, wherein Chat is asked to create more efficient prompts based on initial promptsThis approach appears to hold significant promise, and will likely be of benefit to those exploring various facets of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs) and designers of Advanced General Intelligence (AGI). Other findings include the need for creating new metrics and ways of discussing intelligence, and various adjacent areas and subprocesses associated with intelligence. Math literacy is miniscule compared to the near universal language literacy of mother tongues. Our search for the root cause of this undesirable human condition led us to: Grammar (or the abstract essence) of a language. Language learning begins with grammar, unless the language happens to be mathematics, which is unique in not even considering including the grammar (abstract general/theory) of mathematics in the mathematical pedagogy. Here we make a case for introducing the abstract essence of mathematics--Conceptual Mathematics--in high school (...) math curriculum. Recognizing that the singular purpose of education is to nurture the universal yearning for understanding, we show how a nurturing pedagogy naturally resolves the "learning crisis", with the solution manifesting as human development. Furthermore, the nurturing pedagogy that we advocate invariably results in the culture of research excellence. (shrink)
