TCL 65C8L (QM8L) HDR brightness dimming issue by Eslam_Elsagher in tcltvs

[–]jdrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kindly provide the title of what you were watching, the HDR format it's in, and the timestamp(s) at which it happened. A lot of us fellow owners aren't seeing the same issue and are trying to help, but we need to know the exact conditions. Thanks.

lowing brightness over time

Yep. This is the main OLED problem that hasn't been fixed. You're paying twice as much for a TV that will need to be replaced in 3 years. Meanwhile LED TVs have effectively infinite life.

Can you provide an example show/movie/video and timestamp? Many of us are currently unable to reproduce this.

Also, the OP video is paused. I would expect the TV to dim to self-protect in that situation.

EVs

I love me some EVs too, but the ST KOs those on range, at 440 mi. As my flair says, I'm a leadfoot and no EV currently on sale in the US (except maybe for Lucid) can do my most commonly driven roadtrip (Quad Cities to Chicago) without a charging stop (I did the calculations on ABRP). Meanwhile nearly every ICE car can.

At a $70k sticker

The base price is $58K and none of the options are performance related. FTA:

Options: black painted roof, $4895; Sun and Sound package (panoramic glass roof, remote-control front windows, active multicontour front seats, 14-speaker B&O premium audio system), $3340; 7-year Connectivity package for Ford Digital Experience, $745; BlueCruise equipment + 1 year + 90-day plan, $495; Marsh Gray paint, $495; keyless entry keypad, $455; 3-year SiriusXM with 360L satellite radio, $300

table stakes

The GMC Acadia Denali Ultimate AWD would like a word with you. Same money, turbo I4, nearly 2 seconds slower to 60.

That's fascinating. For example, I'm 6'1 with a lot of leg/relatively short torso and many BMWs (which typically max out at ~41" of leg room) feel tight to me.

Yep. BMW also recently celebrated 14 years straight of back to back M division record sales.

Placebo effect. It's the exact same powertrain but the Aviator is heavier.

As tested is meaningless in this case as the options are fluff that add nothing to the performance. Also depends on what financing BMW offers. Ford likely offers longer loan terms and more generous offers, plus their dealers are more likely to negotiate.

Help me come up with plan to apply 4lb of RootX through sewer cleanout; cleanout opening perpendicular to floor & angled to wall it has limited clearance to by jdrch in Plumbing

IIRC I think we wound up using a slanted half-pipe to get it in and then a funnel for water. The problem with using the funnel for the powder is it gets stuck.

The toilet idea might work. The problem is the foam has to go somewhere and, being foam, it's buoyant and wants to go upwards when water is around. Thus you'll probably need crazy water pressure to keep it from coming back up the drains in the house. If you want to try that, I'd recommend filling 5 - 10 contractor buckets beforehand. After you've put the RootX in the drain cleanout, seal the cleanout. Then pour the buckets into the closest toilet to the cleanout as fast and hard as you can without the toilet bowl overflowing.

Ultimately I think the reason I chose to do things the way I did is the basement in my cleanout area is unfinished, so overflow there is less risky than elsewhere in the house. Also, having drains backup is a sanitation risk.

Anyway try the buckets idea and let me know how it goes.

Read the performance numbers and base price in the article, bearing in mind the ST has only 1 powertrain option. The "$70K" argument is nonsensical, that's just the optioned config Ford sent C&D. You can get an ST for much less than that.

Kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel at <$40K. Even the Santa Fe Limited is over $50K. I'm not rich but I wouldn't even look at anything in that range. Enjoy.

This. 420 hp if you opt for the Ford Performance tune that doesn't void your warranty. The 60 times and roadholding are astounding for the base price and both the latter and the 5-60 time are better than that of the (base) X5.

This exactly. High time for Mazda and their delusional fans to eat some humble pie. They spent years coasting on this "near luxury" BS ... can't even beat Ford lol.

Everyone's leg to body height ratio is different. They could be shorter than you and still have longer legs or a wider stance (the CX-90 front row is narrow).

The complaints are mostly internet comments from people who don't own the cars. Every new BMW owner I know loves the interiors.

Correct. Car and home buying is about monthly payments and not OTD price.
