DS-MG (Kosmos 26) [Yuzhnoye]
The DS-MG satellites were a series of Soviet technology demonstration satellites launched as part of the Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik program.
These battery powered satellites were to demonstrate an electric gyrodyne orientation system. It also carried a scientific package for research on the Earth's magnetosphere, infrared flux and ultraviolet flux.
The first satellite, Kosmos 26 was launched on 18 March 1964 on a Kosmos booster from Kapustin Yar. It remained in orbit until reentry on 28 September 1964.
A second satellite, Kosmos 49 was launched on 24 October 1964 also on the same launch vehicle type. It decayed from orbit on 21 August 1965.
