OSCE human rights office intensifies monitoring of abuses in and around Ukraine as evidence grows

WARSAW, 20 May 2022 – As the precarious security situation in Ukraine continues, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is stepping up its monitoring of the impact of the conflict on civilians and prisoners of war for violations of international human rights and humanitarian law, following Russia’s military attack in Ukraine almost three months ago.

OSCE Media Freedom Representative condemns attacks on media workers in Tajikistan

VIENNA, 18 May 2022 – The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Teresa Ribeiro today condemned the attacks on journalists in Dushanbe and expressed her grave worries regarding the safety of media workers in Tajikistan. This comes following reports about two separate attacks in Dushanbe on teams of the Russian-language television and digital news network Current Time and the Tajik service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Radio Ozodi after they conducted interviews about recent events in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous region (GBAO).

Democratic institutions and an independent media are our strength in times of crisis, OSCE leaders say

Security situation focus of visit to Moldova by OSCE CiO Special Envoy and Special Representative

CHISINAU, 30 April 2022 – Following recent developments in Transdniestria, the Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Artur Dmochowski and the Special Representative of the Polish OSCE Chairman-in-Office for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process, Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, have concluded a two-day visit to the Republic of Moldova to convey the CiO's message of strong support for the stabilization of the situation in the country, peaceful, based on results-oriented dialogue solution of existing problems, and to assess the risks for the security situation in the region.
