Welcome to Apache Lucy
Introduction
Lucy will be a loose C port of the Java Lucene search engine library, with Perl and Ruby bindings. The project was undertaken when it occurred to the authors of two Lucene ports, KinoSearch and Ferret, that as they had written more and more C code, their projects had converged... so maybe they ought to join forces.

27 October 2009: ApacheCon US
ApacheCon US happens November 2-6 in Oakland, California. Among this year's attendees will be Lucy developer Marvin Humphrey. See you there!
15 September 2009: OO framework completed
After a long stretch of apparent dormancy, the pace of Lucy development has quickened this year. We have now finished the underlying OO framework and have begun work on search code.
1 June 2006: Lucy project approved
The Lucene PMC has formally approved the proposal for the Lucy sub-project.
