From Globus

Globus does not have offices or buildings, but is a virtual organization that exists only on the internet. Its only physical existence is the technical infrastructure that enables it to operate.

Overview

The Globus Infrastructure is mostly composed of the following services:

• the web serving environment
  • The Globus Alliance web provides an introduction to the work of the Globus Alliance
  • The Grid Software web describes the role of Globus software in the Grid ecosystem
  • The Grid Solutions web documents use cases for Globus software
  • dev.globus, for developers of Globus software
  • The Globus Toolkit web, for users of the Globus Toolkit
• the Globus code repositories (CVS)
• the Licensing agreements
• the mail management environment (mailing lists)
• the issue/ bug tracking (Bugzilla)
• the continous build system (Tinderbox)
• the distribution mirroring system
• a posting of known downtimes

Globus has an "infrastructure" team that is responsible for the management and day-to-day system administration and operation of the various hardware that runs the above services. Some members of the infrastructure team volunteer to be "on call" and be paged in case a system goes down. The infrastructure team is also responsible for approving the installation of a new system or software on the Globus machines.
