Download Help

Download problems can be caused by many factors, from the quality of your Internet connection to the load on our servers here at CodeGear. Please use the troubleshooting information below to identify and address any software download problems you maybe encountering.

If the download does not start:

  • Please verify that a filename appears in the lower left border of your browser when you move your mouse over the download link or image.
  • Please try one of the other download links (if there are multiple links to choose from).
  • Please wait 60 seconds, and then try the link again. A temporary problem may be preventing you from connecting with the server.
  • Please wait a minimum of 30 seconds after starting the download before attempting to start it again. Watch to see if your browser is indicating activity (spinning globe in IE, for example) during this period. Do not begin a new download if the browser is still active (stop the browser if you feel you have waited long enough).
  • Please carefully check to ensure that other windows have not covered the download dialog box.
  • Please restart your browser and try the download again.
  • Please try using a different system to download the file.

If the download starts but does not complete:

  • Please make a note of the size of the file that was downloaded to your system, in bytes. Please try the download again. If the download fails again with the same exact file size, an intermediate server may have cached a corrupt version of the file. Please wait 24 hours and then try the download again
  • Please verify that you have enough disk space to download the file completely. Be careful to check the space in the area where the file is being downloaded, which may be different than the area in which you intend to save the file.
  • Monitor the speed of the download. If the speed of the download is abnormally low (much less than the speed you expect) there may be congestion between your system and CodeGear. Try the download at a different time - preferably not during the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Central Time US.
  • Test the latency of the connections between your system and CodeGear using "tracert" or "traceroute." If there are intermediate systems with obvious congestion problems, please wait 30-60 minutes and then test the route again. After the congestion has cleared, try the download again.
  • Please try using a different system to download the file.

If the download completes but the received file is corrupted:

  • Rename or erase the file on your system, and try the download again.
  • If the file downloads completely a second time (please verify that the number of bytes is identical in both copies on your system) please inform us using the form below. Wait 24 hours, and then try the download again.
  • If the extraction fails partway through, please verify that you have enough disk space to extract the contents of the file.
  • Please try using a different system to download the file.

If the download completes, and the received file opens properly, but other problems occur:

  • If the file fails when scanned for viruses or triggers virus warnings upon extraction, DO NOT assume the file has a virus. Please ensure that you have the latest updates for your virus software, and contact your virus software provider to determine whether this is a known problem (sometimes large compressed files can cause "false positives" - incorrect activation of virus protection software).
  • Please ensure that you downloaded the correct version of the file for your OS and software environment.

If the file you are trying to download cannot be found on the server, please use the Contact Us form.

Other Problems:

  • Download Manager Problems, or Proxy Problems: The CodeGear Download Manager does not support proxies. See "De-Activating the CodeGear Download Manager" below for instructions on how to prevent the Download Manager from installing.
  • De-Activating the CodeGear Download Manager: Please completely exit your browser so the Java Applet is removed from memory. When you attempt to restart the download, answer "No" to the question of whether you trust the Applet. It will not install, and you can use the link labeled "select this link to download the file" to attempt the download without the CodeGear Download Manager.
