Presentation: Rapid Progess in High-Brightness LEDs for Projection

The brightness increase of LED light collected into small etendue projection light engines has significantly accelerated during the last 3 years, beyond many industry expectations. This acceleration has enabled the creation of LED projection TVs of various sizes, in mass production by Samsung and Nuvision based on Luminus' PhlatLight LEDs. This presentation reviews the progress which has been made with LEDs for projection applications, and the products being enabled. An outlook for further brightness improvements and new products is also given.
