50 Years of Support and 50 Great References from Merriam-Webster

To commemorate this year's 50th anniversary of Merriam-Webster's partnership with the Scripps National Spelling Bee, the school or public library of the 2007 champion's choice will receive a collection of 50 Merriam-Webster titles and a check for $5,000. This gift, made in the winner's name, exemplifies Merriam-Webster's long-standing commitment to the support of education and literacy.

We've also invited the 286 regional Bee finalists to participate in an online contest based on the competition's "Winning Words" since 1957, the year Merriam-Webster came on board. Participants who successfully complete our online quiz are eligible to win a copy of the new Merriam-Webster's Visual Dictionary, or, in a random drawing, the grand prize—an Apple 30GB iPod.
