Hiracoizii ( Hyracoidea ) sunt un ordin de mamifere placentare care cuprinde șase specii vii grupate în trei genuri și o singură familie vie ( Procaviidae ). [ 1 ] Sunt cunoscute în mod obișnuit ca hyrax . Au apărut în Africa acum cincizeci de milioane de ani ( Eocen ) și sunt în prezent răspândite în toată Africa și Peninsula Arabică .
S-a sugerat că rudele cele mai apropiate de hiracoizi sunt titerienii , dar această dezbatere nu sa încheiat în întregime. Împreună cu acest taxon, proboscidea și alți taxoni dispăruți, tetitherienii formează clada penungulelor , care, conform datelor genetice moleculare, este clasificată în superordinea Afrotherians . Acestea sunt relațiile din cadrul acestui grup de mamifere:
Notoungulatele , Notoungulata un ordin al meridiungulatelor , includ multe specii fosile în cadrul hegetoterienilor care, datorită asemănării lor fizice cu Hyracoids, au fost botezați în mod eronat ca aparținând acestora (cu numele de hyracoids ).
