I have many times told the story of an uncle* repairing our TV set in the early 70’s.
When he was finished there were components he had removed and not replaced or replaced with added jumper wires..
His explanation was simply “I can’t see a reason it’s needed”
*same uncle I’ve mentioned in a post elsewhere on here who supplied the components for my first crystal radio kit. His teachings taught me a lot more than just how to solder.

We have just received a report from TAS that Russian troops have taken control of the Chechen capital. The reporter saying this was struggling to contain a laugh.
“and now over to our man in the capital” as he fails to contain his laughter….

I think the mission to use A.I for anything should sit apart, then be dumped. Perhaps use actual intelligence to address problems.
Yeah, I’m concerned about the availability of actual intelligence too, but I think you get my point.

I’m not sure what the criteria for National Lottery grant/funding are nowadays but Jodrell Bank seems like a worthy cause if all else fails.I've seen less deserving causes funded.

I remember an article about the first few surveillance cameras put in place in Newcastle being rendered useless by a couple of concerned citizens using a shotgun.
Sometime 1993 – 1995 can’t remember exactly when and searching is getting nothing but ads for shotgun cameras.
