We spent the last several decades leisurely skating right past all reasonable courses of action accelerating directly towards the brick wall of global climate collapse. Every year since 1992 we have been talking about building plans to consider ways to formulate strategies to devise schedules to arrange agreements to lower emissions below 1990 levels. And every year since then we have increased emissions. And we currently plan to increase emissions further.
One way or another emissions will decrease. We have squandered all the reasonable ways.
Global economic collapse is basically the remaining way, the 2008 mortgage crisis and the covid pandemic showed us how well this can work. If the AI bubble burst makes that happen quicker maybe it's a good thing, as far as the world our great grand children will be rebuilding in is concerned. It's going to be bad regardless at this point, but <NoAdequateExpetivesExist> stop digging a deeper hole.
Otherwise it's up to mother nature to just destroy everything, which she is just getting started on, and she won't stop getting worse and worse for quite some time even if all fossil fuels blinked out of existence right now, it's already all baked in. Everybody already knows about fires and floods and tornadoes and typhoons and falling water tables and rising sea levels and melting glaciers and lower snowpacks and bee colony collapse and offgassing permafrost and ocean acidification and on and on and on what's the point in pointing any of it out anymore. Here we go.
