BTW, there were/are many in the intelligence world who knew Bliar's bollocks about WMDs in 45 minutes were lies.
Those were typical politician's statements. It wasn't the 45mins part that was the problem, it was two letters... 'IF'. If Saddam had WMD, then he might have been able to launch missiles in around 45mins. Which was based on much of Iraq's missile forces using Scud missiles, which were liquid fuelled and the liquids were rather nasty. So 45mins was about right to fuel a Scud and fire it. We also knew that Iraq had chemical weapons because it had used them against Iran and their own population, and we kinda helped them.
But the claims were rather hyped up to provide a pretext for the invasion, and that's a trick that still gets replayed over and over again. Iran & nuclear who've been only weeks away from WMD for decades, thus providing a clear and present danger to justify the US bombing it. Or most recently, repeating the Venezuala meme to justify invading Cuba. A 30 year old crime being used to justify the arrest of a 94yr old Castro for shooting down a supposedly 'humanitarian' flight that had been rather involved in regime change operations.. And Cuba knew this because they'd throroughly inflitrated the Cuban ex-pat's operations.
