Ray Colcord

Ray Colcord III (nato il dicembre 24, 1949 a Manhattan , New York , New York , † febbraio 5, il 2016 in Studio City , Los Angeles , California ) è stato un americano cinema e la televisione compositore e produttore musicale . Nella sua lunga carriera ha scritto le musiche per oltre 60 serie televisive, film e spettacoli.

vita e carriera

Colcord è nata nel 1949 da un investitore immobiliare.

Da adolescente, Colcord andò in tour con il Columbus Boychoir . Ha studiato legge alla Rice University di Houston , in Texas , ma presto ha abbandonato gli studi a causa di conflitti con altri studenti molto conservatori. In seguito è stato tastierista nella band di Roy Head . Nel 1970 è diventato un dipendente A&R presso la Columbia Records .

Nel 1971 suona il piano elettrico nell'album American Pie di Don McLean . Dopo aver conosciuto la band Aerosmith , ha lasciato la Columbia Records per produrre il secondo album degli Aerosmith Get Your Wings con Jack Douglas . Poi è andato in tour con Lou Reed come pianista. Tra le altre cose, può essere ascoltato nell'album live di Reed Rock 'n' Roll Animal .

Nel 1973 si trasferisce a Los Angeles e inizia a lavorare per la United Artists Records . Dal 1976 è stato direttore musicale del gruppo comico improvvisato The Groundlings . Dal 1982 è direttore musicale del programma televisivo An Evening at the Improv . Dal 1983 in poi, ha scritto principalmente musica per serie televisive, film e spettacoli.

Colcord era un membro della Society of Composers & Lyricists, di cui è stato presidente per diversi anni. Colcord è stato anche il governatore della Television Academy e un membro del Consiglio di amministrazione della Film Music Society. Ha tenuto conferenze sulla produzione musicale presso la UCLA Extension .

Ray Colcord è morto il 5 febbraio 2016 nella sua casa di Studio City per un tumore al pancreas diagnosticato quattro anni prima. Ha lasciato la moglie Madeleine Elizabeth (nata Ennis), con la quale era sposato dal 1983, loro figlio e fratello.
