Now this is a pleasant and very unexpected surprise... NVIDIA has become the latest premier sponsor of the Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS).

Following Dell and Lenovo becoming premier sponsors in contributing $100k USD annually to the LVFS/Fwupd project and in May HP became the third premier sponsor, announced this morning is NVIDIA becoming the fourth company now contributing $100k+ annually to this project enabling open-source firmware updating on Linux systems.

As part of their motivation for this sponsorship, NVIDIA has been distributing DGX Spark firmware via LVFS/Fwupd. Hopefully we'll see increased usage of LVFS/Fwupd by NVIDIA for their Vera Rubin servers, future platforms, and perhaps even graphics card firmware updates.

LVFS/Fwupd lead developer Richard Hughes of Red Hat confirmed the NVIDIA premier sponsorship this morning.
