Obviously this is hypothetical. Google Pixels are wonderful devices, I own one, and I'll be buying the 4 XL in Q4. However, the hardware in the Samsung Galaxy devices is just so much better. The only reason I don't buy Samsung phones is because of the sofware. I don't like OneUI (haters gonna hate), I love stock Android, I love quick updates, I love the smooth snappy nature of my 2 XL.
If Google could bring this, plus all the Pixel-specific stuff to a phone with the hardware of an S10/S10+, then I'd buy it. The better screen, the bigger battery, the build quality, the thin bezels, all of it. It's a shame this would never happen, but we can dream.
The only thing I'd miss is squeeze for assistant, I love it.
EDIT: Thanks for all the comments. I'm not suggesting doing this would launch Google ahead of Samsung (although if that's their goal then they would have to do this + advertise more). These are just my thoughts on how Google could vastly improve their sales numbers, I'm not saying this would be the end of Samsung. I forgot to mention that I'd expect it to keep dual front-firing speakers, and even the two-toned rear design would be fine. Wasn't necessarily talking about the curved edges either. I meant the internals (more RAM, storage, bigger battery) + screen tech (better AMOLED, pin-hole design, small bezels) of a Samsung.
Saw it was a known bug on some YouTube comment about the Pixel 3a, turned it off on my Pixel 3 and it has made the world of difference.
Can't believe I was living with so much stuttering thinking it was normal. The difference is like night and day.
If you have a Pixel 3, I highly recommend you give it a go even if you think you have no performance issues.

This morning I left the bus and couldn't find my phone. I immediately opened the laptop and went to https://www.google.com/android/find.
Yep, I left my phone on the bus. The map showed that the phone was following the bus route further and further away..
Panic attack! I wanted to freak out but also wanted to get my phone back first!
Thanks to the smart phone, I don't remember anybody's phone number.
I was emailing my SO and suddenly found out in the Google Hangout section you can make phone calls...for free. Also the entire contact list was saved there.
So I went back to the find-my-phone website, selected "Play Sound" (my phone was set to silent), and kept calling myself using Google Hangout.
Someone picked up the phone after the second try. It was the bus driver.
Now my phone is safely at the bus station office waiting for me to pick it up during lunch break.
I consider myself extremely lucky that kind people helped and also the technology provided by Google.

I pulled the trigger on a Pixel 3a XL and so far I am so happy with this phone. These are my impressions after one and a half day of usage.
The battery life of my Pixel 3a XL impressed me the most. This will be at least a 2 day phone with my usage and could even last 3 days with medium usage. I never had a Nexus/Pixel with such great battery life. Today I mostly used it for texting, browsing Reddit, Twitter and a 2 news apps. A bit of Camera and listening to music aswell.

The screen is alright, but not mind blowing. It is as bright as my Pixel 3, but has got less grain. Viewing angles are a bit worse on the 3a XL. Color uniformity is great. So overall an okay display for the price, but don't expect a high end Samsung panel.
The speakers are okay, the maximum volume is on the lower side, my Pixel 3 gets louder. But most importantly, the quality is alright, no issues like with the Pixel 3 XL speakers.
Performance is great so far, I don't play games on my phone, so I don't need a hight end SoC. I didn't notice any differences compared to my Pixel 3.
Camera quality is the exact same as my Pixel 3. I compared different photos and I can't spot any differences. Only the image processing takes a bit longer on the Pixel 3a XL of course.
Build quality is good, the plastic body feels quite nice, not cheap at all.
Headphone jack is nice, but I miss wireless charging and official waterproofing. I think Google should have at least included wireless charging to make the 3a line compatible with the Pixel stand.
All in all I am very happy with the 3a XL and don't miss my "more premium" Pixel 3. I love it to be back on a bigger phone. The Pixel 3 XL was not option because of the hideous notch and the broken speakers.
Any tips besides turning digital well being off? Don't know what I was thinking buying a 1400 phone SMH. To browse Reddit, send slacks, browse ig, and text this little guy will do just fine.
In some ways the OG Pixel 1 is more premium, i.e. solid aluminum & glass case, but in other ways it slightly dated (battery, camera, etc.). The 3A will be fresh and new, with fresh ports, a quality charger & cable, etc.
That said, the OG Pixel works great, battery is not bad and can be replaced, and camera is respectable.
Basically, is there any good reason not to upgrade if T-Mobile wants to give us $400 for a 3+ year-old Pixel?
Edit: We'll pay tax (about $35) + some nonsense T-Mobile upgrade fee ($30?) + cost of a case, let's say $90 all-in.
Who has this issue? I have 2 XL
Despite some small bugs, Android Q makes my Google Pixel 2 XL run like it's straight out of the box again. The new gesture system is way better than the small pill gestures. Battery life is great also. I see all these people getting new phones with the latest specs and I'm still ROCKING my pixel 2. Absolutely no complaints on my end. Anybody else??

If anyone is worrying about it looking or feeling cheap, you shouldn't. I forget regularly that it's even plastic.
I got the 3a just recently and so far it's been pulling it's own weight, and more. I'm very happy with this purchase, and I don't ever plan on swapping off of a Pixel.
